Field Journey — 7 August 2026
This Emerald skull journeyed to Castlerigg Stone Circle in Cumbria. I journeyed to the heart of this place, I sat within the centre of this stone circle, held by the outer circle of stones. The experience brought an inward focus, with a message asking for a slower pace so that connection could be heard.
The outer world can be busy, but we must find the time to journey inwardly and quietly—even when our physical bodies remain within busier spaces.
I later sat with the skull amongst the stones of a nearby wall, quietly viewing the stone circle from a distance. Another message emerged. Focus is needed from within the centre, yet there are also times when we must step back and view the whole. When we make space for both perspectives, something new can begin to form.
Time is needed for both growth and contraction; each is part of a wholesome and sustainable journey. If we remain too long at the centre, closely focused, we may lose sight of the wider view that helps the pieces slot together. Yet if we only stand back and observe the whole, we may never develop the individual pieces needed for the journey.
This skull carries a call to move consciously between these perspectives: to journey inward, step outward and allow each view to reveal what the other cannot.
Animal Encounter — Sheep
As I sat amongst the stones of the wall, sheep rested quietly behind me. Sheep are a powerful totem of new beginnings, asking: where in your life do you need to start afresh?
They also remind us to use both our creativity and our minds as we journey towards greater awareness. This often requires an inner and outer focus—the willingness to listen quietly within while also stepping back to recognise the wider possibilities beginning to emerge.
